A remake of 2000 Summer Youth Activity Road Rally, 2010’s The INCREDIBLE RACE got its flags down to race last April 19-23 at CLUB 8586 Center, Cavite City.

It was participated in by kids from age 5 up to 12 for the morning intermission and youth from high school level up to college in the afternoon. This fun-filled-one-week gathering was themed F1 racing, carrying out the main mission from Hebrews 12:1. Each day offered a dose of learning and enjoyment from singspiration, full throttle fun and games, arts and crafts, up to the Bible lesson activities. Its culmination program was held May 1, wherein seven teams vied for the year’s BEST RACING TEAM award together with the best racer for each group. It was closed by a message delivered by CNN Hero 2009 Efren Penaflorida Jr, followed by the songs that were taught in that 5-day race.

“Don’t put God’s power in a box, learn to trust on Him and be amazed on how He can let His hands act upon you and pour you with all the blessings you truly deserve.”

These lines are some of the familiar phrases the graduates of Club 8586 kept on saying as they were given a chance to  testify on how they witness God’s faithfulness in terms of their studies.

It’s been a yearly activity for Club 8586 to treat its graduating members for a testimonial dinner. Last April 18, 2010 at Doña Feliza Restaurant Cavite City, Club 8586 graduates of both high school and college were gathered to testify the goodness of God and bring back all the gratitude to Him for whatever blessings they were able to accomplish in life.

Sunday School teachers together with Club 8586 Teaching Ministry once again, acknowledged the outstanding students who in their own little ways, showed that lessons learned in Sunday School should not only be remain as an added information or knowledge, but more importantly should be applied to life, as they live a good testimony to others.

Last March 28, 2010 – as Sunday School Year 2009 ended. Club 8586 Teaching Ministry distinguished these students through an awarding ceremony done after the Regular Sunday Activity (RSA). Some of the awards given were: Model Students, for each department- the Kids, Youth and Adult departments; Model class; Model teacher (both for quarter4  and for the year 2009) and; Fisher of the quarter and Fisherman of the year.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of  the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

This is the Lord’s greatest commission, wherein  He mentioned the act of baptismal. Baptism is a ceremonial wherein Christians were being washed in water to signify a new start in life. Even Christ, was being baptized by John (the Baptist) in order to identify with sinful humanity.

Last April 2, while the world is celebrating the Lenten season, we as Christians also celebrated and commemorates Jesus’ practices. As He says, in order for us to have the Christ-like attitude, we have to follow Him.

On February 28, 2010, Dynamic Teen Company hosted the College Preparation Seminar, dubbed Survivor Ako!, at the Club8586 Center. It catered to third and fourth year high-school students coming from different high schools in the Cavite City area.

In line with its namesake, the seminar fed students’ minds with valuable information that’d help them survive college, hopefully, with flying colors. Timely, is what could be said of the program, especially with many students still undecided about what college course to take or where to study.

The group was blessed by the presence of two speakers. Mr. Dann Ray Alvarez and Engr. Ariane Calupe, both having their own success stories, discussed key decisions needed to be made in ensuring a good college life. Among the most important if not the most important emphasis given was of the need to allow the Lord Almighty to guide us in our endeavours.

The program came to its climax, with the students receiving God’s Gift through mass evangelism. Indeed, the mood differed when it came to this point. The students’ restlessness and vigour arising from the games they participated in the program were replaced by a deep solemnity after the evangelism took place.

There is of course an uncertainty to how many truly accepted Christ as their Saviour. Identifying who among those present were indeed engaged in the “acceptance” was an impossibility. Still, for those who did receive the blessing, it was a point of no return. A good one, that is. With God now sitting on the throne in each of their hearts, decisions like what choices to take in going to college would no longer be marred by selfish and worldly desires. Instead, they would now be driven by the yearning to serve the Lord.

February 14th, 2010 marked Member Care Ministry’s event entitled “Nobody, Nobody but You” A Marriage Enrichment Seminar held at Manuel Rojas Elem. School Multipurpose Hall, participated by over 20 couples plus married couples with partners abroad or on work duty. VCF (Alabang) Pastor Chico V. Peña and wife Mary Anne were the resource speakers of the nearly 4-hour seminar/workshop. The said seminar consisted of 4 sessions:

Session 1: Heart to Heart which discussed the difference between man’s and God’s heart in marriage.

Session 2: Talked about understanding the differences between a man and a woman, being created uniquely by God, understanding the needs of the husband/wife, knowing the different love languages.

Session 3: Do You Have Time?

This session identified the top 5 reasons why couples can’t fulfill their plans, described the typical workweek of a busy person, and stressed on devoted time and not leftover time for each other. It challenged the couples to really make the time for regular undivided attention, despite financial or living situation – and even plan ahead and trust God to provide for their “dates.” It stressed on the ideal order of priorities of a married individual which is God, spouse, children, work, and ministry.

Session 4: “Fine-Tuning Your Marriage” guided the participants to identify the areas that need realignment with God’s will, rebuked and reminded them to take care of the blind or weak side of each other .

The objectives of the event were to introduce the basics and importance of counseling in a church and furthermore pave the way to the establishment of the Counseling Ministry. It also aims to equip and educate future counselors on the basics of counseling, specifically biblical counseling.

The seminar was held at Club 8586 Center at around 4:00 pm which was attended by its youth members and also some visitors from the community.

Speakers of the seminar were Member Care’s own Rhenand and Keithlyn Manayao, and also VP for FLG, Randie Salonga and one pioneer counselor, Donna Lynn Manun-og.

The four core topics of the seminar included Introduction to Counseling, Second is on Pagpapayo: Kristiyano at Pilipino,
Third is the core which was about Ethics and the Spiritual Resources in Counseling, and the final topic was about Common Mental Illness.
